I recently switched to a Charter Cable modem, and it works fine with WPA2. I'm using DHCP, you shouldn't need a static IP. Nor should you need an assigned IP on the DHCP list. I tried both WPA with TKIP and AES. Documentation and support for this is nearly non-existent. You are the only person who has commented about the connectivity.
